How to Install Shotcut Video Editor 17.05.06 on Ubuntu 16.04 & Higher

   Shotcut is a free, open source, cross-platform video editor for Windows, Mac and Linux. Major features include support for a wide range of formats; no import required meaning native timeline editing; Blackmagic Design support for input and preview monitoring; and resolution support to 4k.




Shotcut  17.05.06 Changelog:
  •    This version just fixes some bugs and updates translations. In particular, it fixes a long standing bug that, on Windows, files with non-Latin characters in the name or path can not be opened or saved.

Installation instructions:

   The GetDeb repository contains the latest packages of Shotcut, available for Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 16.10, Ubuntu 17.04 and derivatives.

Opening terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and running the command:

Ubuntu 16.04 xenial

$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu xenial-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'

$ wget -q -O- http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get install shotcut

Ubuntu 16.10 yakkety

$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu yakkety-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'

$ wget -q -O- http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get install shotcut

Ubuntu 17.04 zesty

$ sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu zesty-getdeb apps" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list'

$ wget -q -O- http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get install shotcut

(Optional) To remove Shotcut, use command:

$ sudo apt-get remove shotcut

$ sudo apt-get autoremove
