How to install Kernel 4.4.27 on 32 bit Ubuntu and derivative systems:

Download the needed packages:

$ cd /tmp

$ wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4.27/linux-headers-4.4.27-040427_4.4.27-040427.201610220949_all.deb

$ wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4.27/linux-headers-4.4.27-040427-generic_4.4.27-040427.201610220949_i386.deb

$ wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4.27/linux-image-4.4.27-040427-generic_4.4.27-040427.201610220949_i386.deb

Install the Kernel:

$ sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-4.4*.deb linux-image-4.4*.deb

$ sudo reboot

How to install Kernel 4.4.27 on 64 bit Ubuntu and derivative systems:

Download the needed packages:

$ cd /tmp

$ wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4.27/linux-headers-4.4.27-040427_4.4.27-040427.201610220949_all.deb

Install the Kernel:

$ sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-4.4*.deb linux-image-4.4*.deb

$ sudo reboot

Check Kernel version:

$ uname -r

Optional, remove the kernel:

$ sudo apt-get remove linux-headers-4.4* linux-image-4.4*
