How to Install Skype 1.10 Alpha on Ubuntu 16.10, 16.04

Skype  is an application that provides video chat and voice call services. Users may exchange such digital documents as images, text, video and any others, and may transmit both text and video messages. Skype allows the creation of video conference calls. Skype is available for Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, or Linux, as well as Android, Blackberry, and both Apple and Windows smartphones and tablets.

Highlights of Skype 1.10 for Linux Alpha

The team has been working hard on bringing video calls on Linux and today we have the experimental version ready for you. We are not quite there. The 1-on-1 video calls work only between Skype for Linux Alpha clients for now. Despite the early phase, we’d like to ask you, the Linux community, to help us with testing. Please let us know how the video works for you.

With this release, we also decided to disable some older version of Skype for Linux Alpha (1.1 – 1.6). Those users will be asked to update to latest version.

Installation instructions:

Install Skype 1.10 Alpha on Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak), Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial Xerus), Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf), Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet), Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr)
